Tasting: Georges Duboeuf Beajolais Nouveau
Name: Georges Duboeuf Beajolais Nouveau
Variety: Gamay
Region: Beaujolais
Country: France
Year: 2013
Price: $15 (Sale: $7.95)
Wine Spectator Review: An aromatic red, with floral and white peach notes accenting the black raspberry and plum flavors. This is open-knit and fresh, offering light tannins on the finish.
My Review: This is one of my favorite reds to taste thus far. The color of the wine itself complemented the fun label with its dark magenta hue. Upon sniffing the wine, there were traces of banana mixed in with the strong raspberry aromas. The taste was similar to its smell, and it was light-bodied which was refreshing for a red wine. There were strong tannins coating my mouth. I enjoyed sipping on this wine because of the hints of strawberry and raspberry that came through on the palate.
I tasted this wine on its own without food.
