Region: Calatayud
Country: Spain
Year: 2011

Critic Review: "This semi-opaque ruby, custom cuvee of 50% Syrah, 40% Grenache, and 10% Mourvedre is made specifically for Fran Kysela. It exhibits very fresh, ripe dark red fruit with very good palate weight and depth and ends with rich fruit notes. Made from organically grown grapes. Incredible value!"
My Review: I enjoyed this wine, which is a rarity for red wines. Before starting this class, I wanted to stay open minded about allowing my palate to appreciate reds. I am pleased thus far. This wine tasted smooth and buttery, and it definitely had a bitter kick to it. The tannic acids were abundant, and my mouth was very dry afterward. I enjoyed that sensation, and I could tell that I was drinking a high quality wine for a low price. Overall, I liked this wine and would drink it again.
I tasted this wine on its own without food.
