Tasting: Gougenheim Torrontes
Name: Gougenheim
Variety: Torrontes
Region: Mendoza
Country: Argentina
Year: 2012
Price: $9.95
Shop Review: "The 2012 Torrontes comes from Chilecito in La Rioja. It has a light floral nose with touches of lemon peel and nectarine. The palate is crisp and taut, showing far more vivacity and fruit that the nose implied, finishing with a flourish of apricot and white peach. Drink now."
My Review: I immediately detected floral scents within this wine. It also had distinguishable sour fruit smells, with grapefruit standing out to me. As I tasted it, its tangy sensation was immediate with a sweet, light finish. It was a smooth wine that I could have sipped much more of.
I tasted this wine on its own without food.
