Shop Review: "Aged for two years in cask, the 2008 Carrascal is a blend of 40% Malbec, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 25% Merlot." It has a rustic blackberry, scorched earth, and leather-scented bouquet with touches of pressed flowers. The palate is well-balanced with crisp tannins, expressive black tarry fruit and a Bordeaux-like finish. Drink now-2016."
My Review: This wine had an earthy, brownish red hue in its color. As I sniffed it, I felt that it smelt similar to a strawberry tart - fruity, but not in a fresh way. Its taste was very dissimilar to its nose. I expected a sweeter wine, but instead this one packed a spicy punch. I felt that it tasted like petrol and rubber. Despite those descriptions with negative connotations, I didn't hate this wine.
I tasted this wine on its own without food.
