Tasting: Familia Pacheco

Name: Familia Pacheco
Variety: Monastrell and Syrah
Region: Jumilla
Country: Spain
Year: 2011
Price: $8.95

Shop Review: This coupage of Monastrell and Syrah is dark red-maroon in color with a full body. Red berry aromas can be appreciated on the nose, with a slight touch of lactose and balsamic sensations. Familia Paco Pacheco Organic is a balanced, full-bodied, fresh wine enhanced by seasoned tannins and the re-occuring traces of ripe fruit.

My Review: I didn't detect as much fruit and berry on the nose as the above review suggested. Instead, I got an aroma of rubbery plastic. However, it wasn't unpleasant. It had a strong bitter taste to it with peppery flavor. I felt that this wine was packed with flavor, but it wasn't a personal favorite.

I tasted this wine on its own without food.
