Tasting: Les Ramparts Bordeaux
Name: Les Ramparts
Variety: Bordeaux
Region: Bordeaux
Country: France
Year: 2010
Price: $8.95
Shop Review: Features good crushed berry fruit, with a savory lacing and a flash of dark licorice on the finish. Fresh and direct.
My Review: This wine had an overpowering aroma of cherry jam and blackberry, with a strong hint of oak. As I tasted it, I could tell that it was full bodied. However, the tannins were not heavy, which I enjoyed as that seems to be rare with red wines. It had a distinguishably smoky and woody taste - exactly how chewing on a pencil would taste. It had a smooth finish which didn't make my mouth pucker. I enjoyed this wine very much.
I tasted this wine on its own without food.
